Job Title: Service Technician

FLSA status: Exempt

SUMMARY:
Under the direction from the Product Support & Development Manager, the job of Service Technician is responsible for performing scheduled service, repair, modifications and total field support for the Carlson Paving equipment. Service Technicians are expected to travel to whatever destination is necessary to meet the needs of the customer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide multiple mechanical and/or training services to customers depending on whether the customer has purchased new equipment or has existing equipment.
Expected to have a thorough knowledge of the equipment's various systems. Must be able to accurately troubleshoot and diagnose equipment performance issues on the spot and bring equipment back into good working order as needed.
Excellent customer-relation skills are critical.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Minimum one year of experience in the troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of heavy construction equipment required.
Must have a strong mechanical and/or electrical background. Welding, hydraulic and/or pneumatic experience preferred.
Experience in the asphalt industry, field of heavy road building and/or construction machinery industry preferred.
Will train in Tacoma, WA. Must reside in or be willing to relocate to a region of the US convenient to the aforementioned service coverage area at his/her expense after training if necessary.
Extensive travel is a must. Sufficient personal financial resources to make credit-based travel arrangements, etc. between monthly company reimbursement cycles required.
Drug screen, physical, credit and background/driving record check required.

High degree of mechanical and electrical aptitude
Ability to read and understand electrical schematics

Ability to handle the physical demands of lifting up to 50 pounds, standing and kneeling for long periods of time, and working in tight or confined spaces

Job Title: Parts Assistant
Department: Parts and Service
Reports To: Parts Manager
FLSA Status: Hourly – Non Exempt

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Parts Manager, the job of the Parts Assistant will be responsible for receiving and placing parts orders as well as inventory management.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Answer daily telephone calls with regard to parts orders.
Receive parts orders via telephone and fax and enter orders in Macola software program.
Fill out Bills of Lading for truck shipments.
Prepare UPS labels as needed for the shipping department.
Responsible for faxing copies of previous days shipments to the customers.
Assist the Parts Manager as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Solid computer skills; knowledge of Macola software a plus.
Excellent customer service skills.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Good telephone and verbal communication skills.
Able to work closely with other people.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.

Job Title: Buyer
Department: Purchasing
Reports To: Purchasing Manager
FLSA Status: Non Exempt - Hourly

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Purchasing Manager, the Buyer will be responsible for coordinating activities involved with purchasing materials, products, equipment, parts, and supplies. Responsible for resolving vendor-related issues with regard to specifications, timing, quality, quantity, and delivery of vendor products, and establish and maintain mutually beneficial supplier relationships based on sound professional practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Schedule all deliveries per Master Schedule.
Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information including price, availability, and delivery schedule.
Establish values according to market price.
Determine method of procurement such as direct purchase or bid.
Maintain procurement records including items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance and inventories.
Maintain inventory levels to support JIT manufacturing.
Maintain purchasing system records.
Set inventory levels to ensure proper inventory turns.
Negotiate the return and/or credit for surplus inventory with suppliers.
Support Purchasing Manager on cost savings projects.
Evaluate defective or unacceptable goods or services with inspection, engineering, parts department, suppliers, and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action.
Expedite delivery of goods and services.
Adjust scheduled deliveries of goods and services in order to accommodate production changes.
Communicate with engineering department on bill of material findings and/or concerns.
Ensure all communications reflect respect for the vendor relationships and conform to company ethics and integrity.
Work to enhance and improve the company’s relationships with existing and internal sources, and engage with new sources to identify and develop incremental business opportunities.
Engage in activity with other departments as appropriate to resolve supplier issues, internal logistics issues, accounting issues, etc.
Maintain purchasing policies and procedures, and follow safety guidelines.
Efficiently meet deadlines and perform all required duties assigned by Purchasing Manager.
Support all department team members as required.

COMPUTER SKILLS:
Macola software system; Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook; and Mainframe systems

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school preferred.
Two to five years buyer experience required.

Job Title: Welder / Fabricator
Department: Manufacturing - Assembly
Reports To: Foreman
FLSA Status: Hourly – Non Exempt

SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Foreman, the responsibilities of the Welder / Fabricator position include joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other weldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assemble units according to product specifications utilizing hand and power tools.
Responsible for identifying units that fail tests or tolerance limits and repair as necessary.
Work with fitters or fitters/welders to assist in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.
Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
Perform a variety of complicated tasks.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisory responsibilities associated with this position.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Familiar with a variety of welder concepts, practices, and procedures.
Ability to understand welding symbols and diagrams, read blueprints, and/or other printed instructional material in the welding of products or parts.
Must be thoroughly familiar with welding equipment such as torches, torch tips, filler rods, flux, hoses, valves, and gas cylinders.
Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Demonstrate willingness to work with others in a team environment.
Positive, willingness to learn and participate in a changing environment to reach a common goal; not to exceed one written warning.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or GED required.
Up to four years welding experience or related field.
Blueprint reading skills a plus.
Aluminum welding and heavy equipment manufacturing experience a plus.
